Brad Stevens dismissed reports of tension between Jaylen Brown and the Boston Celtics Wednesday, saying a recent direct conversation with the All-NBA wing produced nothing but positive dialogue, four days after Boston's stunning first-round playoff exit against the Philadelphia 76ers.

The denial came in response to public comments by Hall of Famer Tracy McGrady, a longtime Brown mentor, who suggested on his "Cousins" podcast that the five-time All-Star harbors deep frustration within the organization.

"He has not expressed those frustrations to me," Stevens said, adding that he spoke with Brown on Monday.

McGrady tied Brown's discontent to his expanded role this season while co-star Jayson Tatum recovered from Achilles surgery.

"I think his frustration lies deeply within the organization and other things that we don't really have the details to," McGrady said. "I think part of him is like, 'I showed you guys more of who I am as a basketball player. Not only just what I did on the basketball court, but the leadership that I displayed within this team.'"

Brown, 29, posted career highs across the board this season, averaging 28.7 points, 6.9 rebounds and 5.1 assists while guiding Boston to a 56-26 record and the No. 2 Eastern Conference seed. The Celtics' season ended Saturday in a 109-100 Game 7 loss, making them the 14th team in NBA history to surrender a 3-1 series lead.

Stevens expressed firm support for Brown and kept the door open for further discussion.

"We've been here 10 years together, and I do think -- obviously I love JB," Stevens said. "Everybody around here loves JB. I'll be here, and my door is always open."
