The Los Angeles Clippers would like to re-sign Nicolas Batum in free agency but he will receive interest from a number of teams.

Batum signed with the Clippers last offseason after he was stretched and waived by the Charlotte Hornets.

The Miami Heat, Golden State Warriors and Indiana Pacers plan to pursue Batum.

A co to jest Lakers? Bo jak na razie tam jest 4 graczy pod kontraktem

Marc Gasol, Davis , RW i LBJ ...

Denga to ty szanuj!

No i troche rumorsow z Hoopshype (jalby ktos chcial wiedziec i byl zawiedziony, ze to nie od moich wlasnych insiderow w NBA).

1.

Sources tell cleveland.com the Cavs are no longer expected to pursue Los Angeles Lakers free agent guard Alex Caruso or Indiana Pacers pesky reserve TJ McConnell— both of whom will garner interest from several suitors and could command the full mid-level exception, which starts around $9.5 million.  via Chris Fedor @ Cleveland Plain Dealer

2.

That means the Cavs need to set their sights elsewhere. Sources say they are considering splitting the exception among two players, depending on the target, but would use the full MLE on the right fit. Indiana sharpshooter Doug McDermott will get consideration, sources say. But that will be a battle. Shooters get paid in this league. A source suggested the Cavs would likely have to go an extra guaranteed year to boost their appeal. Let’s call that the “Cleveland tax.”. Alec Burks is another possibility. The Cavs like him and would be interested in a reunion, a source says. Burks played about half a season with the Cavs in 2018-19 before getting sent to Sacramento in a three-team trade that netted Cleveland a first-round-pick.  via Chris Fedor @ Cleveland Plain Dealer

3.

A league source said the chatter among league executives is that Holmes is likely staying in Sacramento, but as last week’s failed trade with the Lakers showed, things can change quickly in the NBA.

J. Michael: The #Knicks have been trying hard to get #Pacers to part with Myles Turner. So far, not happening. This and other intel entering free agency. They don’t seem in a hurry to bust up their core.

The Pacers did talk about Lonzo Ball, a restricted free agent in New Orleans, but how far those discussions went isn’t clear. What is clear is that Ball doesn’t appear to be a serious option at this point.

The Miami Heat are positioning themselves to become front-runners to land Kyle Lowry in a sign-and-trade agreement once discussions are permitted to begin with the opening of NBA free agency on Monday, sources told ESPN. Lowry has long been intrigued with joining Heat star Jimmy Butler and the Miami organization, and now Miami has maneuvered to have two key elements of a possible sign-and-trade package — guard Goran Dragic and forward Precious Achiuwa — to offer the Raptors once talks can ensue at 6 p.m. ET on Monday, sources said.– via Adrian Wojnarowski @ ESPN

13.

The Pacers would like to unload Jeremy Lamb, who is in the final year ($10.5 million) of his contract and has had health issues since he broke his left leg and tore knee ligaments two seasons ago. They don’t have a spot for him, and his defense is a liability on a team that took a major step back there under Nate Bjorkgren.
Despite anticipation that the Pacers will do something to shake things up — trading Myles Turner or Malcolm Brogdon have been the most popular topics — it’s unlikely anything seismic happens, a league source tells IndyStar going into the weekend. – via Indianapolis Star

According to a league source, the team is losing confidence in its ability to re-sign veteran wing Evan Fournier. The Celtics acquired Fournier from the Magic in exchange for two second-round picks in March. The move was completed to bolster Boston’s playoff push, and because it would give the Celtics the ability to sign Fournier to a long-term deal this summer despite being over the salary cap since they would hold his Bird Rights. The team could also pursue Spurs forward Rudy Gay and former Celtics forward Kelly Olynyk, according to a league source.– via Boston Globe

There is mutual interest between Batum and the Warriors, sources said. He’s currently in Tokyo, competing for France. But there is expected to be contact with his representation early in the free-agency process. Batum, sources said, understands how well he’d fit the Warriors’ system and, as a notable bonus, has an established relationship with new assistant Kenny Atkinson, who coached him last season with the Clippers.– via Anthony Slater @ The Athletic

Michael Scotto: The Charlotte Hornets did not extend a qualifying offer to Grant Riller, a league source told @HoopsHype. Riller will become an unrestricted free agent. Riller was the 56th overall pick by Charlotte last season. Both Riller and Charlotte have interest in a possible return. via Twitter MikeAScotto

Kawhi Leonard had surgery on a partially torn ACL, but no one has reported just how much time he could miss exactly. According to Adrian Wojnarowski, there's an expectation that Kawhi Leonard could miss the entire 2021-22 season.

AllClippers reached out to sources within the Clippers organization, and some confirmed that same thought. There's no definite answer on how much time Kawhi Leonard would miss, it's more of a, "I personally think he will." Even though Kawhi had a partially torn ACL, he had surgery for a full reconstruction. It could take six to nine months to return to normal ACL activity after a surgical repair.

The Miami Heat are expected to sign Jimmy Butler to a contract extension this offseason.

Butler is eligible for a four-year extension worth approximately $181 million.

Butler's contract from 2019 was worth $141 million over four years with a a $37.7 million player option in 22-23. Butler's extension would replace his 22-23 option worth $37.7 million and include three more seasons beyond that one.

Miami has between August 6th and October 18th to extend Butler.

Butler led the Heat to The Finals in 2020 and had was a Third Team All-NBA selection in 20-21 despite a difficult bout with COVID-19.

Update to free agency column... While the Clippers want to re-sign Reggie Jackson, source says he's expected to receive serious interest from New Orleans if - when? - the Pelicans miss out on Kyle Lowry. The Knicks, Boston and Denver also interested.
